Best Waterfalls Near Indore to Visit

Patalpani is the better-known of the two, roughly 35 km from Indore on the way toward Mhow. The waterfall drops from a good height into a rocky gorge, and it's also a well-known spot for watching the narrow-gauge Kalakund-Patalpani railway line cross the valley on a nearby bridge — trainspotters and waterfall visitors often overlap here during monsoon weekends.

The approach involves some steps and uneven rock, so it's not the easiest waterfall for very young children or anyone with mobility concerns, but it's manageable for most visitors taking it slowly.

Tincha Falls sits in the same general direction as Patalpani and makes a reasonable pairing if you want to see both in one trip. It tends to be quieter than Patalpani, which some visitors prefer, though the crowd — and the water flow — both depend heavily on how recent the rain has been.

Both waterfalls are at their best during and shortly after heavy rain, and can be underwhelming (or completely dry) outside monsoon season — check recent rainfall before planning a special trip in the off-season.

The rocks around any waterfall get slippery when wet, so sturdy footwear matters more than the distance does. A chauffeur-driven car works well for this kind of trip since it means someone is waiting at the parking area rather than you needing to arrange onward transport in a spot with limited connectivity.
